New Year brings some latest happenings and advancements in the world of automobiles. This year, Alexa, Amazon’s voice-activated virtual assistant will be added to Toyota and Lexus vehicles and expand the infotainment features into more model in 2019.
This partnership deal between the world’s largest companies, Toyota and Amazon are a said to stake a claim of bringing revolution to the world of automobile and online retailing.
Alexa will allow passengers and drivers to provide navigation, latest news, add items to their shopping cart, pick different entertainment options and much more through the speech command system.
This was confirmed at CES (Consumer Electronics Conference) in Las Vegas. Alexa in cars can also be synchronized with the devices at home in order to control thermostats while you’re on the go.
Along with Toyota other automakers like Hyundai and Ford has also started making the same move to improve the connectivity systems and bring ease for customers to link their vehicles and mobile phones.
Amazon, being the world’s largest online retailer remains in continuous contact with customers by making the platform of Alexa and Echo digital assistants as pervasive as possible. Amazon is working to incorporate this similar feature in other car makes too as it announced that the voice-activated work tools will also bring Alexa to the office. This is a striking development for the Japanese automobile company Toyota as other tech giants were resistant to integrate the feature.
The world of automobiles is highly tech-savvy nowadays as they are adopting latest technologies from the Silicon Valley. Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto have also been already installed on different vehicles.
