Why blogging matters to small businesses

We’ll soon be merging this blog with the News and Information section of our website. Our various blog topics have all grown like Topsy but from 2018 FOXY Lady Blogs will be posted HERE, to make it easier for our readers.

FOXY Lady blog is critical to getting our message across. In our new Blog Section you’ll find a blog post explaining why we write what we do and how our blog reflects our strategic business plans. It’s all part of our ‘drive’ (pardon the pun) to get what we do to a wider audience as part of an affordable and measurable PR plan.

To raise awareness about the Club, I started the FOXY Lady blog in March 2008, writing for and about women drivers.

It’s not a sexy read and I doubt it’ll make it to the top of a busy female’s ‘must read’ blog list but if women want to know about motoring they stand a chance of finding useful insider information here, with their best interests at heart, when they need it most. Or decide to join the Club for 1:1 support of course.

Writing about motoring for women is certainly a perilous path to tread (some prefer simple and lightweight content whereas others find that approach patronising…) but I do this to amplify the Club’s key messages and for a whole raft of good business reasons.

Dear Elon Musk: Please Post the Nurburgring Time for the Roadster

Unless you’re a caveman communicating with drawings in a cave, you’ve heard about the new Telsa Roadster by now. I don’t need to fill you in the news but I will say at first glance it’s really impressive, and it looks fantastic. 0-60 in 1.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 8.8 seconds! With specs like that, it will smoke any other production car on the planet. In a straight line that is. You see, the one thing conveniently missing from the spec sheet is the weight. And as we car guys & gals all know, that’s a pretty important performance factor once the road starts to bend.

Normally I wouldn’t have a bone to pick but in this case, I do. Originally, I wasn’t a big fan of Tesla, however, over the last couple of years, I’ve started to warm up to them. And this Roadster certainly doesn’t hurt that. But Elon Musk, as genius as he is, is making an extremely bold claim in his quest to “smackdown gas cars.” The claim is front and center on the Roadster website: “The first supercar to set every performance record and still fit seating for four.” With that I say, Mr. Musk, if you are going to make claims like that, please post the Nurburg ring time.

Lowtech Marc’s ’49 Chevy Custom

Seeing a cherry car from the late 40’s is becoming increasingly rare nowadays. They just aren’t as common as they used to be, making it a real joy when you see prime example rolling down the road. While this ’49 Chevy would be a head turner even here in the States, the fact that it now lives in France surely makes it stand out even more. Thanks to Marc Wöltinger, a Swedish photographer that has a wonderful taste for vintage cars, the fine folks of France get to enjoy a proper American car in all it’s 40’s glory, with a slightly custom twist.

Marc has made a name for himself as a Lowtech Marc, an aficionado of all things classic cars. His blog is chalk full of hot rods and cars pushing roughly 70 years old. But of all the customs he has featured on his blog, his own ’49 Chevy Custom has to be one of the best all-around builds. Instead of giving it the full ‘lead sled’ treatment that so many folks do now, Marc instead built a classy and understated build. The chassis sits just right with a set of gorgeous white walls, while the cherry red paint is one of the best looking colors for any car. The interior is a gorgeous combo of black and white leather, with an homage to the cars Southern California roots thanks to some well-done pinstriping on the dash. It’s an absolute head turner, and yet I can only imagine the reactions it must get in a country like France. I just love the fact that it has the stock powertrain. It’s no restomod, just a pristine classic car showing off its timeless style. We could all learn a thing or two from Lowtech Marc’s style.

Lazareth R1: The Babylon AD Prop You Can Own

If you are looking for a solid investment, movie props are always a good way to go. While they may not appreciate radically in value, they will remain incredible unique, keeping up their value. Take this Lazareth R1 for instance. The bike was originally featured in Vin Diesels Babylon AD, a futuristic sci-fi film with tons of action. The Lazareth was a star in its own right in the film until it was destroyed in a wreck towards the end. While most wrecked bikes get written off as an expendable prop, Ludovic Lazareth wasn’t happy with that outcome, hoping to rebuild the R1 to its former glory.

Lazareth didn’t just restore the R1 back to spec, he made it better. The forks were toast, so Lazareth ditched them in favor of a new swingarm style front end. He designed the two swingarms to match, allowing him to use the same Triumph Speed Triple front and back. With the new suspension sorted the R1 got a slight update with its carbon fiber bodywork, as well as updated LED lighting all around. What I find the most surprising is the fact that Lazareth managed to utilize the stock R1 frame. The best part of it all? You could own this very bike. Lazareth currently has it up for sale, for a whopping $53,000. But when you consider it isn’t just a cool custom bike and is actually a movie prop as well, then the price tag starts to make a lot more sense.

The 500hp Williams-Singer Porsche 911

By now Singer Vehicle Design has become a household name with their classic redesigned 911s. Building off of the gorgeous 964 platform, Singer has created arguably the perfect 911, encompassing classic styling cues with modern components. Yet because everyone now knows just how amazing these custom Porsches really are, you’d think they wouldn’t be able to continually leave us in awe. You’d be very, very wrong. Singer has been working with Williams Formula 1 to create the most impressive air-cooled engine to date. The engine boasts a grand total of 500hp, with a massive 9,000 RPM redline. And while the engine is the highlight of this build, it isn’t the only impressive feature.

Although these are only renderings, we know with Singer’s track history that the actual car will come out looking even better in person. While still noticeably a Singer, the new Williams mashup features some key styling difference from your traditional Singer build. That’s because Williams put their years of Formula 1 aerodynamics to work, creating these new body lines. The 911 is now more streamlined than ever before, thanks to key changes tip to tail. They then widened the track, further adding to the lovely curves of the 964. Even with all the modifications they still managed to keep minimum curb weight at a scant 2180lbs, making the new GT2 RS look like a cow in the process. And yet it still isn’t over. Singer isn’t just a wiz with the exterior of these classic 911s, but also the interior. While they have done a remarkable job with their past creations, not a single one can hold a candle this Williams 911. The red detailing is a gorgeous contrast to the Absinthe-green exterior. Every piece is gorgeous and well placed, but nothing stands out as much as that center console with it’s exposed shift linkage. I mean, c’mon, that is the definition of ‘car porn’. I’ve always loved Singer, but they are operating on another level thanks to some help from Williams, just curious how much that ‘help’ is gonna cost…

Miro’s 1970 ‘World War Z’ Camaro Z28

Old Camaros look best the wider and lower they get, which is good news for Miro and his 1970 Z28. They don’t get lower than this, and I’m sure they don’t come much wider. Cyrious Garageworks is responsible for this particular monster, and I have to say they perfected the ‘stance’ game with ‘World War Z’. The body remains intact, with just the addition of some nice bolt-on fender flares. However, underneath those fender flares rests a set of massive 19×12.5 and 19×13.5 wheels wrapped in equally massive Nitto tires. Combine that with the Ridetech Shockwave stage 2 suspension and you have an excessively aggressive looking second Gen Camaro.

While I typically appreciate a little more ground clearance, I have to admit I really like this Z28. Even though it’s low enough to scrape the headers it can still handle with the best of them, thanks to that snazzy Ridetech suspension. Although it looks like a time attack monster, the ‘World War Z’ is actually a fully functional street car. And I don’t mean that in the ‘gutted racecar that happens to have plates’ kind of way. Miro’s Z has actually been fully Dynamated giving it practical sound deadening. It has also been given a full Alcantara interior, with a full suite of interior accessories to go with it. This Z28 could easily be daily driven. That is as long as there aren’t any speed bumps nearby, and plenty of gas stations. Featuring a supercharged Chevy LT4, the ‘World War Z’ is going to be undoubtedly thirsty. Add a shot of nitrous and you have a thirsty Camaro with 826hp at the wheels. Hell yeah! I have to say, the ‘World War Z’ Camaro is easily one of the best cars to come out of the ‘stance’ scene in quite some time. Who says you can’t have a build that does it all?

The Track1 Off-Road Skateboard

While this might look slightly terrifying, like it’s a prop in science fiction movie, you’re looking at what might be the ultimate electronic off-road skateboard. Fittingly, it’s called the Track1 and it’s built by Flux designs. As you can see, it’s one hell of a design that screams off-road prowess, but this isn’t all form and no function. It has the specs to back it up too.

This one of a kind machine has an expected top speed of just over 20mph thanks to a 5hp electric engine. That should be more than enough to carry up, over, or through just about any sort of terrain that you’d be willing to attempt while riding a skateboard contraption such as this. The layout is similar to what you see on a snowmobile with the large single track providing all the power and upfront sits two knobby off-road tires. That should theoretically make it more stable when you’re mounted atop the high-strength, lightweight deck made out of Kevlar and carbon fiber. However, even still it’s gotta be incredibly difficult to ride and that’s why the creators of the machine also equipped it with a set of handlebars. Flux Designs is currently taking pre-orders on Indiegogo if you want one. But be prepared to spend a pretty penny to get it, $2,500 to be exact.

Car Shoes: Up Your In-car Style Game

There’s always that guy with impeccable taste in cars, likely driving a rare Ferrari or Porsche of some sorts. The type of car that you envy as he rolls casually into your local Cars & Coffee. No matter what you drive you are instantly envious of this man thanks to his impeccable taste in cars, that is until he steps out. The moment the door swings up you are greeted with the worst sight in history, a god damn pair of New Balance shoes. It should be considered a crime to step into a high-end sports car with such pitiful footwear, and yet we allow it to happen far too often. What this man needs is a set of Car Shoes.

While the name might not sound enticing, the shoes speak for themselves. Crafted from a selection of high-end leathers like deerskin and calf(baby cows for us lamens), Car Shoes are every driver’s dream mocassin. They are expertly hand-crafted in Italy with a focus based on both performance and styling. The soles are constructed for ample grip for that perfect heel-toe transition. Even the heel featuring texture to keep it planted perfectly in the footwell. Moreover, you will no longer be left wearing dinky shoes that encourage cargo pants and a pocket t-shirt. You have taste in your car, let Car Shoes help you show off that taste in your wardrobe.

Koenigsegg 1090 Motorcycle Concept

Who doesn’t want a motorcycle built by the fastest car company in the world? I know I would. That’s why these renderings from Maksim Burov are so enticing. Koenigsegg just shattered 5 world speed records with their mighty Agera RS, and now we get to have our minds shattered by the idea of a Swedish based motorcycle. The only problem, this concept isn’t from Koenigsegg. Instead, this is a rendering from world-renowned designer, Maksim Burov.

The 1090 concept is Burov’s best dissection of what a Koenigsegg motorcycle could actually look like, and I absolutely love it. Burov has been fascinated with the idea of a Swedish born motorcycle for some time, producing several renderings in the past. But there is something about this ‘1090’ that we can’t get over, and it’s likely the realism to its design. This design could easily be produced, making it entirely functional. Only drawback is the fact that it is quite unlikely to share the same speed pedigree as their road cars. While it may not be Kawasaki H2R fast, it does look quite stunning. The rendering appears to be based on some type of V-twin. But to me, the ‘1090’ would be better served with a modern liter-bike powertrain, which is never down on power. I particularly love the Borla exhaust, as well as YSS suspension. Here’s to hoping Koenigsegg notices just how cool a bike could actually be.
