Cool Car: 1938 SS100 Jaguar

SS 100 JAGUAR

A rare thing of beauty.

We’re very excited to have this very rare and original 1938 SS100 Jaguar here at British Sports Cars. We are very fortunate to have been chosen to get this incredibly rare Jaguar back on the road and sold after nearly sixty years of hibernating in a San Jose, California garage. The SS100 Jaguars were offered with two engine options: the 2.5-litre or the 3.5 litre, which came later in production. This particular SS is optioned with the larger, more desirable, and more rare 3.5-litre and is a matching-numbers car to top all. This is one of our favorite cars of all time, and this Jag is a truly remarkable example with all known history from new with excellent documentation.

Here’s a video of Justin with an overview of the car and the interesting history of SS and Jaguar.

This particular car had the same owner since 1957, until just recently when it was sold by his estate. The current owner found it just by chance, as he is also an enthusiast of antique Fords. His close friend that is also a Ford enthusiast called him and mentioned that they had an old Jaguar the estate was wanting to sell. As you can imagine, he jumped at the opportunity and, well, here it is! This is one of the rarest and most desirable Jaguars ever produced, and to find an unrestored, matching-numbers example is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. One we put it on the market, it didn’t take long to find a buyer for this rare piece of automotive history. We’re happy to report that this original classic has a new home and a very happy owner. Comments and questions are always welcome!
