The GCBC Analysis
It’s tough to get a good look at the Large SUV segment in America right now. Ford and GM, which both have several models that fit into this segment don’t report monthly anymore, so we can only report on two models.
The Nissan Armada saw a massive increase in sales of nearly 103 percent. That’s a huge number for any vehicle, and we suspect that even if Ford and GM’s vehicles had been included, they wouldn’t have had similar sales increases to that, though they may have sold more in terms of volume. When you look YTD for the Nissan Armada, you’ll see that it’s now having a good year, with a sales increase of about 24 percent.
The other model included in our data is the Toyota Sequoia. It saw a sales decline of about nine percent. The YTD sales for that particular vehicle are down by about 17 percent. It will be interesting to see how the segment fares once Ford and GM release their sales numbers at the end of the quarter.

Important note: Ford, GM, and FCA have switched to quarterly reporting, making it more difficult to accurately gauge sales. We won’t have results to report for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Lincoln, Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, and Ram until the end of each quarter.
