5.2 performance hacks

Hey guys, I'm new here and I have a question that maybe some of you would also like to know the answers to. I have an all stock 5.2 with plans of rebuilding to a lower compression with a larger stroke and using forged or billet internals. My question is, aside from building the engine up, are there any old school race hacks that you guys used to shave seconds off in a quarter or just makes the engine run more efficiently.
