Vacuum Check Valve direction.

See the check valve going into the port marked P? Ignore the red circle and arrow (I stole the image from the internet) Which direction should it allow flow? The symbol is no help and I can't find anything on the internet that helps. I'm assuming that the P is for Ported Vacuum and the M is for Manifold. Initially I thought that the check valve should be installed so that the vacuum on the ported vacuum port would suck evap gases into the intake. Now I'm not so sure given that...
