New member needing help,
I have a 2000 durango, 4.7, 4x4. Alternator was very loud, so I bought another. When installed it started smoking and the alt gauge was at 12, then went all the way to the left. I replaced the old one, which had been charging well, and it did the same thing, showed 12v, then went all the way left ,I returned the alternator, bought another from another place. installed, no smoke but gauge does the same thing. searched forum, determined it must be charging control in...
