Best Option for First Car/Van: First Generation B100 or Second Generation B100?

I'm going to get my license soon and I've been looking at old Sportsmans for a while (specifically the shorty B200s or B100s). I love the classic look of the '71-78 model, but I'm wondering what the differences are between it and the '79-93 model. I'm guessing the suspension hasn't changed, and I know that the three-speed manual was dropped. But other than that, are there many differences between the model years? Thanks! -T
