my new project 2011 avenger 3.6L LUX

What's up ya dodgy fkrs?! I'm just looking to come up with a list (from easiest to hardest) of ways to add horsepower before i get started on this thing. For starters, I notice when i punch on the gas, sometimes i get this funny smell? Ive read it might be the catalytic converter causing that? So, along with a cold air intake im just gonna delete those cats altogether and let this thing breathe! But after that I will need to reprogram the CPU then? Is that right?
