Small And Midsize Luxury Car Sales In America – May 2019
The GCBC Analysis
Small Luxury Car sales didn’t look good for the month of May. The segment was down by roughly 6,500 units. When you look YTD, the segment was down roughly 27,000 units.
The only models that saw sales increases were the BMW 3-Series, BMW i3, and the Volvo 60-Series. When you look YTD, the only models that managed to see sales increases were the Lexus RC and the Volvo 60-Series.
The Midsize Luxury Car sales fared a lot better for the entire segment. There were about 6,600 more sales in May than this time last year. When you look YTD, you’ll see that there have been about 25,000 more sales than this time last year.
The weird thing about the Midsize Luxury Car sales is that just a few models are carrying the segment. The Tesla Model 3, Lexus ES, Audi A7, and Audi A6 are the only models saw sales increases for the month and so far this year.
Important note: Ford, GM and FCA have switched to quarterly reporting, making it more difficult to accurately gauge sales. We won’t have results to report for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Lincoln, Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge and Ram until the end of each quarter.
