The upcoming 2020 BMW X3 M is a high-performance variant of the company’s most popular compact SUV. BMW’s “M” version will look to rival Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC and its beefier models. Interestingly, X3 M comes thirteen years after the first release of regular X3 SUV.
After years of speculations, the high-output version is finally here. It comes with an aggressive look and a unique appearance. Interior is nothing but premium and it provides truly great comfort. Under the hood, the 2020 X3 M comes with the most powerful six-cylinder engine BMW ever made.
2020 BMW X3 M Looks More Aggressive Than The Base Model
We must admit that the all-new 2020 BMW X3 M looks impressive. Logically, the “M” version looks more aggressive than the base model. Whatsoever, it looks more aggressive than the larger X5 M model. The upcoming SUV features a blacked out grille, larger wheels and larger vents.
LED headlights are available as standard. 20-inch wheels are finished in a twin-spoke design and 21-inch rims are optional. Sporty diffuser and quad-exhaust pipes are visible at first glance. Loading the Competition upgrade will add plenty of gloss-black features for an even more cool appearance. On top of that, the M Carbon Package is optional too.
Dimensions
The forthcoming SUV will be larger than the base X3 model in all of the aspects. That includes larger features such as bumpers and wheels. Even the overall vehicle’s dimensions are larger. The 2020 BMW X3 M is 186.2 inches long and 65.6 inches tall. Moreover, SUV’s width is rated at 74.7 inches. The wheelbase is also longer, 112.8 inches to be precise. On top of that, X3 M offers 8.0 inches of ground clearance.
BMW X3 M Cabin is Perfectly Crafted
Once you step inside the 2020 BMW X3 M you will be impressed. This sporty variant comes with no cloth upholstery at all. Everything is covered with fine Vernasca leather. For that reason, comfort is truly amazing. The interior layout is the same as on the base model. Of course, the X3 M variant comes with more features and functions. The leather steering wheel and unique gear shift selector are looking perfect. However, the steering wheel is the same as in the M40i model.
Besides that, the rest of the cabin is truly unique and astonishing. A larger 10.2-inch touchscreen comes as standard. Also, a 12.3-inch display in the instrument cluster is available. Ambient Air Package is optional and it adds three-zone automatic climate control. Moreover, this package comes with perfect ambient lighting. Seats are very sporty and supportive. Merino leather is optional and cargo area is the same as on the regular model.
How Much Power Does It Have?
New BMW’s SUV provides only one engine option. It is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit. This engine is the most powerful of BMW’s six-cylinder output. It can produce 473 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. 8-speed Steptronic transmission is available, along with the standard AWD system.
Thanks to such a powerful engine, the 2020 BMW X3 M sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. This high-performance variant offers drastically more power than the M40i model. On top of that, performance is in line with the rest of the competition. Still, Jaguar F-Pace SVR is still the quickest model in the segment.
2020 BMW X3 M Price and Release Date
The price of the brand-new 2020 BMW X3 M is still not available. However, the latest reports are suggesting a price between $64,000 and $68,000. There will be plenty of optional packages so the price could go up. This sporty SUV will hit the markets in the spring or by the end of this year.
