Old wiring woes....

Hi Gents, I'm new to the board. Wiring woes for a 79 D series I'm trying to bring life back into. The harness I have isn't that bad, the vehicle starts and runs with relatively minor bugs but the idea of going to the trouble of improving everything else seems pointless if after "going to all the trouble", some gauges won't work, some lights wont work..... I've been seeing guys marketing wiring courses using modern methods and braided sleeve jacketing materials. Pretty slick looking... Old wiring woes....
