Should I get a 2nd opinion?

So I took my magnum R/T with 61k miles in to the shop yesterday because a few weeks back the car was acting funny going into reverse and didn't want to leave first gear once. A SINGLE TIME. It was parked ever since. Yesterday morning it shifted through all gears and everything else perfectly when I drove it to the shop in the morning. Last night They called me when I got off work around 5 saying that my trans was toast, it's been overheated and it was 4 quarts low on fluid and that the fluid... Should I get a 2nd opinion?
