Dome light issue!

We just bought an old 2000 Dakota for the oldest boy to be his first car. There is a weird issue with the dome light. When the truck is running and you close the doors all is normal. If you turn the truck off and open and close the door, the dome light won't turn kff until you start the truck and then it turns off. If the truck is running and you open and close the light works as it should. But if the truck is off and you open and close, the light won't turn off unless you roll the roller... Dome light issue!
