Testing fuel pump before i drop the tank

08 ram 1500 5.7 hemi quad cab just died on my way home. Has gas and oil. Turns over great but won't start. It starts momenterily with starting fluid. I've been told the problem is the fuel pump. I would somehow like to confirm that before I drop the tank. (Whose brilliant idea was it to pump in the tank?) Thanks
